It's pretty easy honestly, it's got it's ♥♥♥♥♥ons of holes where all the other weapons have theirs.
#TIGER KNIGHT EMPIRE WAR SPEAR HOW TO#
There's probably more to say about how the spear is broken and all that ♥♥♥♥, but what you guys really want to know (probably) and what you need to know is where spears fail and how to beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of them. It also lets you stun horses which lets you follow up with a powerful anti-cav combo which eats the enemy general's health and often might be enough to dismount general and throw 'em to the ground which lets you and your allies put more damage/kill him. This is more prominent with spear+shield. Spear users can basically charge and if it's an infantry unit they can basically run them over or hit and run style. Although it's not, the fact that you have your attention divided makes it all the worse since the spear user is the sinister villain within reach but you can't touch.
Even in a regular engagement between multiple people from both sides, the spear user is weaving around their allies and poking your head for what seems to be stupid amounts of damage. And this is really irritating because you feel like you can't do anything about it because there happens to be 2 fatass dudes blocking your face with 100-200dmg combos. The only real difference is, is that whereas other weapons you see people walking up and bopping you with 100-200 dmg combos, the spear user sticks in the back (and a good one hopefully) will weave front and back, right and left poking you for 60 dmg a pop to your head. The thing is, is that you're basically screwed either way when facing 2-3+ people, spear or not. They get killed by this rediculous spearwall and can't do anything about it. The spear also abuses the fact that it eats people alive through teamwork. Oh yeah, and since spears are always targetting the head, they usually care less about the type of armour the opponent is wearing whereas other people aren't so lucky since their swings usually hit the body of the opponent and is more often cockblocked by damage reduction to add on to fustration.
Other 2handers don't have it as easy since the amount of things they need to consider is essentially double, and terrain factors in more since rocks/walls can cockblock swings. This makes it slightly easier for spear users to consider their movements since they just need to focus on targesting the head and maintain tip distance and the rest of their processing can go to footwork and maneuvering. The thing is, other weapons are more clunky with the way you need to hit with their tips to efficiently do damage in that you just poke rather than swing. Most of the other 2handed weapons besides the clubs and 2h swords focus their damage on the tip (rather than have the tip essentially be the entire blade) as well but the spear has it a lot better than the other 2handers. Where it falls is that the spear has a very specific interval/area where it does the most damage. And with its pinpoint accuracy getting headshots is moderately easy, which in turn makes the damage soar through the roof. The spear is a long ranging melee weapon with pinpoint accuracy, it's essentially a cqc rifle or sniper of sorts.
The spear is "OP" not because of imbalanced stats or anything of the sort but because it does its job too ♥♥♥♥ing well lol. But, the spear isn't op in the way they think it is. So, the whole thing about spears being "OP" isn't necessarily wrong, people do have a point. For my main points I'll be discussing the long handle spear which is essentially the type that's getting all the flak. Okay, so first I need to differentiate the specific type of spear I'm talking about. Second note, this thing is gonna be a hell of a read because it's going to be a cluster♥♥♥♥ of information that I can't properly organize. I'll also discuss that later on in this mess of words. Although I'm a heavy user, I don't consider myself nearly skilled enough to be the expert of all things about spears. So I actually wanted to dsicuss the points of the spear and discuss it's strong and weak points. Also to get this out of the way, there's a lot of cussing throughout the whole thread so I'll probably offend you if you're not the type to handle that stuff. And that's why I'm here to tell you guys about it, for better or worse. Oh wait, first I gotta give everyone their grain of salt. Tl:dr towards the bottom of the thread, but there's like 3 paragraphs after so look a bit above that. First of all, hate to disappoint spear haters, this isn't a rage thread.
